Use of DNA as Evidence

DNA: Deoxyribonucleic acid is known as DNA. It contains all the genetic information and instructions in development and functioning of all living organisms in this world. It contains all the information required to construct cell, protein, RNA molecules. Genes are the DNA segments that carry the genetic information. But some DNA having structural purposes are also indulged in the use of thus obtained genetic information.

Use of DNA as evidence is very essential for fighting against sexual violence and indeed helps a lot to forensic department to identify rapists and to save innocent suspects. But it is not been in use fully to its potential. It is also nicknamed as “fingerprints of 21st century”. It had helped a lot to catch the rapist. Recent DNA named PCR is making a tremendous contribution results for testing in which the previous test results are inconclusive. It helps in to catch suspects in many unsolvable problems and cases and also to make free the suspected one.

How does DNA evidence forensic field?

By DNA identification any type of organisms can be identified provided it should belong to that specified species. Identification of the individuals within the species takes less time and it helps directly for the comparison of complex DNA. For identifications of individuals 13 DNA regions is scanned by the particular scientists. These 13 DNA vary from person to person and the scientist use the data to create a DNA profile of that particular individual. There is very small chance that two persons may have the same DNA profiles for a particular set of 13 regions.
